Sun, sand and swimming in Esperance

Today we drove from Wylie Bay to Cape Le Grand along the beach - how cool. It was 22km of the most pristine beach and most beautiful turquoise ocean what a wonderful drive. Kids had a swim and then we climbed over the rocks again, swam in the rock pools and spotted some crabs. Breeze was cool and so was the water. The view from up the hill was fantastic and it was a great way to end our time in Esperance. Head off to Balladonia tomorrow and on over the Nullabour, expecting to stop Ballladonia, Eucla, Ceduna, Port Augusta and then to Adelaide.

Esperance

Although today was drizzly and grey, we took a drive out to Cape Le Grand which truly lives up to its name of being GRAND. The views were spectacular from the lookout we climbed to - dark green bush bordering a carpet of snow white sand and emerald blue/green water, and the sun came out for a little while so we could enjoy the view even more. Walking on the rocks and hunting for crabs, fish and we even saw a lizard was great fun and Jerome loved being in the water even though it was a little bit chilly - so they all said!
What an awesome display of God's magnificent creation - glory to Him!

We're on the way!

Yes, it is the Birch's checking in for the first time on our trip around Australia. We have had a lovely few days in Albany with my sister Sally and her family. We celebrated her 40th birthday with a lazy day at the beach and the kids all had a fabulous time together as the last hurrah until we see them again in the snow (August - we can't wait!!) This time was way too short and yesterday we pushed on to Esperance, having an overnight stop on the way.

So here we are in Esperance, town of the pristine white, crunchy sand (and a fun pontoon with slippery slide in the harbour beach!). We are looking forward to exploring over the next few days.
